Henry County Solicitor-General Meets w/HCARS

Solicitor General Pam Bettis met with the Henry County Amateur Radio Services President Roy Baker, and members, at the September 2022  meeting held at the Henry County Emergency Management building. Solicitor General Bettis provided a brief training about her office for the Society as well as participating in the meeting.

The meeting was key moment for the history of the club as the Society voted to change the name to Henry County Amateur Radio Society, HCARS, and Henry County Amateur Radio Emergency Services, HCARES, to reflect our commitment to promoting both amateur radio, and being prepared to assist in providing emergency radio communication services when called.

July 31 POTA Event

Picture
On July 31, 2022 several local amateur radio operators gathered at Panola Mountain State Park for a fun filled day of playing radio. Many members from the KJ4KPX, Southern Crescent Amateur Radio Club were present. We were able to get 1 unlicensed individual on the air to make a Park to Park contact in Oklahoma (Fighting through a pile up I might add). We had several excited folks at the event and it was a great time to be had by all. There was much enthusiasm to do similar events more frequently in the future. In total we clocked in 65.75 man hours at the event. Looking forward to the next event.
